Quality Workers

This week, we had THREE quality workers!

Our first was Ronan. Ronan wrote an amazing story about his Mum on Wednesday. He remembered his full stops and capital letters, and did some great sounding out! He even figured out that cooking has two o's!

Ronan - My Mum is great. I love my Mum.
My mum is good at cooking.
Our second and third quality workers were Zoe and Jack. They both wrote fantastic stories on Thursday. Zoe did some amazing sounding out, and remembered all her full stops and finger spaces! Jack wrote 6 words all by himself and remembered all his finger spaces!

Here is their wonderful work!

Jack - I am going to the shop. I am going to buy my toys.

Zoe - Tonight we are having fish and chips with Zac and me!
Mum is going to buy chips and fish for tea.
Well done you three, you are all star writers!

Magnet fun!

Today, D1 had their last science lesson with Mrs Harrison for term 3! This was our 3rd lesson, and we were learning all about MAGNETS!

We already knew that magnets stuck to metal, and that they sometimes stick together, and sometimes don't!

We did some experimenting to figure out what else they could do.
Click read more to see what we did!

Milo Cricket!

On Tuesday, we got the chance to learn some cricket skills from a real Firebird! The Firebirds are the Wellington cricket team and one of their star players, Andrew Lamb and his cool friend came to Eastern Hutt school to teach us about cricket.

First we had to sit and listen to the instructions.
We were REALLY quiet!

Then we did some running drills.
Here are Liam, Sophie and Jack doing some
great running!

Sophie M, throwing her ball!

Ronan, running back to his team.

Teneil, practicing running with a bat.

Mia-Rose, also running with her bat.

Charlie, running back to HIS team!
At the end, the coaches gave everyone a bag FULL of great cricket things, like posters and stickers, and even a voucher for pizza!
Thank you so much Andrew (and his nice teammate) for teaching us all about Cricket. D1 can't wait until Miss Pauley takes us out for a game!

Kiwiana Day

On Monday D1 and the rest of the junior syndicate had a fantastic day celebrating all things Kiwi. We created some amazing art, and played some really fun games.

Because we were split into lots of different groups, Miss Pauley doesn't have many photos of what we did, but there are a few!
Here is a graph of our favourite thing we did on Kiwiana day. The fish and chip lunch and the sports were the most popular, but 3 people liked doing the art the best!

Paper Shaper

Yesterday D1 and the whole of the junior syndicate went to the hall to watch a fantastic show called Paper Shaper!
The show was all about a little man who lived in a
bin and made things out of paper rubbish.

It was REALLY funny!
He made birds, and clouds and even a sun!
He even made a dog out of paper!

This guy was REALLY FUNNY!
We thought the show was beautiful.

Miss Pauley was away sick on Tuesday, and while she was gone D1 had an AMAZING science lesson with our wonderful science teacher Ms Harrison.

D1 learnt all about magnets  - what they stick to, what they don't stick to AND what you can use them for. Click read more to check out some photos of our class experimenting with them!

Quality worker!

At writing time today, Max wrote an amazing story about his cousin, himself and his penguin Cooper Oxford. He used good sounding out, he wrote lots of word he already knew and he remembered his full stops!

Miss Pauley has typed it up and pinned it to our quality work wall, and she is going to post it here too!

Max's story:

This is me and my soft toy Cooper Oxford.
He is so funny and he was cute!
He was from the power shop.
My cousin Ben got one too.
His name was polar bear.
Ben's polar bear was funny like Cooper.
Me and Cooper put on the power gun!

Max wrote 3 and a half pages!
Go Max!

Last week we practiced our soccer dribbling and kicking, and this week we played a game!

It was really fun, but we were really tired afterwards.

Miss Pauley and Mia took lots of great photos and a video, which you can look at if you click read more.
